Pier fishing is the best way to access fishing spots in deeper water without having to use a boat. But hauling all of your fishing gear to the end of a half-mile long pier can be a lot of work. The solution? A pier fishing cart. Pier fishing carts are designed specifically to make it easier to bring all of your fishing gear with you to the end of a pier.
Pier fishing carts allow you to bring more gear and more supplies out for your fishing trip. Want to fish for more than just an hour or two? Load up your cart with extra water and a lunch time meal. Looking to fish with multiple rods? Put them all on your cart and bring as many as you’d like.

Homemade Pier Fishing Cart
A DIY pier fishing cart is a great project for anyone who is relatively handy and loves building their own tools. A homemade pier fishing cart can be put together in less than one day. We recommend building yours out of PVC pipe as it would be very difficult to make the cuts necessary to even low gauge aluminum to build a cart.
It is highly recommended that you purchase or download some pier fishing cart plans before you start your build. Keep in mind that nearly any homemade pier fishing cart will not be as strong and durable as a factory built cart.
Pier Fishing Cart Plans
A pier fishing cart can be a very easy project – there aren’t many plans available on the internet. However, we did find a great FREE set of plans over at FORMUFIT. These plans call for a PVC pipe built cart which can be built with supplies from HomeDepot and completed within one day.
Don’t forget the accessories too! Keep in mind that this is a great DIY project – but for most people buying a new, professionally built cart is a much better option. Alternatively, it is very easy to find lightly used pier fishing carts on CraigsList.
